Alumni Association Seeks Nominations for Annual Alumni Awards

A long standing tradition at the USF Alumni Association is to annually recognize outstanding alumni and community leaders who have made a significant contribution to the university and the community.
Nominations from alumni, University friends and community members are accepted all year but must be received by January 31st of the presentation year to be considered by the Selection Committee for that year.
Recipients of the four awards are announced in July each year and are honored during an awards program at USF Homecoming in Fall.
Distinguished Alumnus Award
Out of USF’s 190,000 alumni, this is the premier alumnus. This award recognizes the USF alumnus who has reached the pinnacle of success in their career or profession. Past recipients include Kerry Sanders, Mona Jain, Ann Ross, Dennis Alvarez, Barbara Samson and many other distinguished alumni that have received this award since 1976.
Donald A. Gifford Alumni Service Award
Time and time again, this individual has provided countless hours of service to the University of South Florida. It may be through committee work, volunteer hours, or numerous other ways individuals can support the institution. Past recipients include Lee Arnold, Jr., Pat Hill, and Liana Fernandez-Fox. They join other alumni that have received this award since 1991.
Class of ’56 Award
The Class of ‘56 Award recognizes an individual in the community who has made a difference. More than just philanthropic work – this individual has rendered distinguished service over an extended period of time. Past recipients include John Ruzic, George Steinbrenner, Phyllis Marshall, Kiran Patel and Stella Thayer. They join an impressive list of community supporters receiving this award since 1981.
Outstanding Young Alumnus Award
The Outstanding Young Alumnus Award was established in 2004 to recognize younger alumni for their accomplishments in their career and their engagement to the university.
